My name is Hrvoje and I am a power systems researcher. I was born in 1984 in Zagreb, Croatia. I received my dipl. ing. (equivalent to M.E.E.) from the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing in 2007. In 2011 I completed my PhD thesis titled "Bilevel Optimization Models for Maintenance Scheduling of Transmission Lines and Generating Units" under the supervision of Prof. Igor Kuzle. During my PhD studies I visited University of Castilla-La Mancha for 3 months working with Prof. Antonio Conejo.
After completing my PhD I worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Zagreb and then at the University of Washington, Seattle, working on the "Energy Positioning: Control and Economics" project under Prof. Daniel Kirschen.
Currently I am an Associate Professor at the Department of Power and Energy Systems, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, University of Zagreb.
My research interests include integration of renewable energy sources, unit commitment models, energy markets, power system planning and analysis, and integration of electric vehicles and storage systems.
My hobbies are basketball, cycling, hiking, traveling, and exploring different cultures and countries.
Over 120 technical studies including renewable energy connection, energy storage, conventional power plants, large customer connections (10 kW to hundreds of MW), electricity market design, hydro power maintenance scheduling, distribution network planning, voltage measurements, earthing system testing, and relay protection setup.
